Our Cape Gooseberry Schoenbrun Gold bee-friendly seeds are organically grown in the UK and are easy to grow in a sunny spot or cool greenhouse. Cape gooseberries produce an abundance of beautiful golden berries with a sweet-sour flavour, each in a papery lantern.

Growing tips: Grow similarly to peppers and aubergines. Sow in modules or trays from March to April at 18 – 21 degrees C. Pot on when the seedlings are 8 cm tall. Transplant two per grow bag or into a greenhouse border and support with canes or strings. Harvest from mid-August.

Cooking: Remove papery lanterns. Add Cape gooseberries to fruit salads, dip into chocolate or decorate desserts. Also makes delicious jam.
