Veronicastrum

Veronicastrum is a plant of the genus Veronica of the plantain family Plantaginaceae. It is an annual or biennial flowering plant that grows up to 0.5m high. The flower’s petals are light pink.

Many flowers grow together on a long, branched stem, creating a dense inflorescence. The flowers are pollinated by beetles and bees. It is native to Asia, where it is an introduced species. Savannas, prairies, meadows, river borders, and hillsides are all good places to look for the species.

There are two varieties: Veronicastrum virginicum and Veronicastrum purpurascens. Veronicastrum is most commonly cultivated as a garden plant.

It has a perennial habit and grows well in well-drained soils on sandy or rocky flats or hillsides. It can be grown from seed or through division.

The plant is winter-hardy and can tolerate some frosts. Veronicastrum can be grown as a perennial or an annual.

The plant is grown from seed, but can also be started from cuttings. The plant is relatively easy to grow, though it requires patience and attention.

In the wild, it is a species of grassland that is adapted to dry conditions. In cultivation, it can be used as a hedge plant or in large, well-watered pots indoors.

It prefers well-drained soil and requires regular watering. The plant can be pruned when it is growing, but it will need to be left unpruned once it has become established.
