Sidalcea

Sidalcea is a lovely ornamental flower. Due to their gorgeous colours and lovely scents, they are popular sources of natural beauty. Some species feature bright pink blooms, while others have grey-blue fruit covered in fragrant powder.

These plants can grow in bunches, which makes them perfect for use in cut flower arrangements, and they are often used in meditation because they release a calming fragrance. They also produce beautiful orange, red, or pink flowers, despite their tiny size.

Although native to West and Central North America, the plant can be found throughout the United States in warmer climates. Sidalcea is most often grown as a ground cover, but it can be grown as a cut flower as well.

Sidalcea has two main types: the radical and upright varieties. Flower buds with gorgeous scarlet or pink petals grow tall and straight in this extreme variety.

The upright variety produces shorter, more bushy flower buds with paler, softer petals. These flowers grow and reach their full height in either late spring or early summer, depending on the variety.

Sidalcea plants need full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Although they don’t need a lot of water, they do need plenty of water during the growing season.

During the summer, plants should be watered about every 10 days or so. During the winter, watering can be delayed or eliminated, depending on the variety.
