The beautiful feathery leaves and white bulbs of this variety are also gorgeous in a potager. And the mild, fresh flavour of aniseed and celery means that Florence Fennel, Preludio tastes as good as it looks.
Growing instructions:
Make successive sowings from April to July. Thin seedlings to 20 centimetres apart and harvest bulbs when 8 – 10 centimetres across. Sowings made after June are less likely to bolt.
Cooking:
Organic Florence Fennel Preludio F1, is delicious sliced raw in salads. Or bake with creme fraiche and serve with fish. Use the leaves as an alternative to the herb fennel.
