Organic Green Manure Alfalfa is 100% pesticide-free and it’s organically grown in the UK. Alfalfa has clover-like leaves and is also known as Lucerne. As a member of the pea and bean family, it helps fix nitrogen in the ground. Alfalfa’s roots grow very deep, so it’s an excellent green manure option for drier soils and for breaking up soil pans.
Growing tips: Sow Organic Green Manure Alfalfa in May – August after harvesting a previous crop. Remove any weeds and rake over the plot, scatter seed evenly and rake in. Keep well watered in dry weather until established. Dig in or cover to mulch in the nitrogen-rich foliage before flowering.
