Organic Calabrese, Green Sprouting, is a traditional calabrese which, unlike F1 varieties, doesn’t produce a single large head but instead yields numerous smaller heads and side-shoots over a long period. So the more you pick, the longer it will keep cropping.
Growing Tips:
Sow in succession April-July, in a sunny spot with fertile soil. Transplant May-August, harvest central heads first, then pick the side shoots as they mature.
Cooking:
Calabrese is delicious when stir-fried or lightly steamed. It’s also brilliant in pasta, with cheese sauce, in a vegetable pie or served cold in a salad with a tangy dressing.
