Organic Broccoli Purple (Sprouting Early) is ready to harvest in April, a delicious and healthy treat when few other vegetables are ready to eat.
Special note:
Organic Broccoli Purple (Sprouting Early) attracts the Large White Butterfly, whose caterpillars can damage the plants. Net with mesh to protect them.
Growing instructions:
Sow the seeds in April – May in shallow drills 15 cm apart. When plants are 15 centimetres tall, transplant into fairly deep holes. Water in well. Harvest the purple flower buds and green stems the following spring. Picking will encourage side shoots to develop.
Cooking:
Stir fry or steam until just tender. Sprouting Broccoli is also delicious in quiches or with pasta.
