Organic Black Pea Blauwschokker has violet flowers and purple pods with green peas, our 100% pesticide-free Organic Pea, is an unusual addition to the vegetable patch. Pick the pods young for mangetout and eat the green peas when small. Also fantastic for drying.
Special note:
Water well in dry weather to prevent powdery mildew.
Growing instructions:
Sow Organic Black Pea Blauwschokker seeds 5 centimetres apart in a shallow trench March – June. Support the tall stems with canes or netting. Harvest from May as they mature.
Cooking:
Steam or stirfry mangetout briefly. Boil green peas for just a couple of minutes – they’re delicious cooked with mint. Peas are also delicious in risottos and with pasta.
