Festuca glauca, or blue fescue, prefers a sunny location in a dry, well-drained garden soil.
The leaf height of Festuca glauca ranges between 20 and 30 cm. Festuca glauca forms small cushions of very fine, inrolled, intensely ice-blue leaves, becoming greener in winter. From late spring to summer, it bears narrow, bristly blue-green flower plumes that turn golden-brown. This makes it a delightful addition to a heath garden or rock garden. Additionally, it can serve as a charming filler in a modern garden.
