Elaeagnus umbellata ‘Fortunella’ is a hardy, fast-growing deciduous shrub prized for its silvery foliage, fragrant spring flowers, and masses of edible bright red berries in autumn. This productive variety is highly ornamental while also being excellent for wildlife, hedging, and edible gardens.

In spring, small creamy-white flowers appear along the branches, releasing a sweet fragrance that attracts pollinators. By late summer into autumn, the shrub becomes covered with nutrient-rich berries that have a pleasantly sharp, sweet flavour and are ideal for jams, jellies, juices, or eating fresh when fully ripe.
