Organic Endive Green Batavian, is a frost-resistant, broad-leaf endive or escarole. Endive, Green Batavian has only a slight bitterness and becomes even sweeter in cold temperatures, so it’s ideal for growing outside in the autumn and in tunnels during the winter.
Growing instructions:
Sow March – April for early harvesting. For Autumn/Winter crops, sow June – September. Keep well-watered and harvest approx 12 weeks after sowing.
Cooking:
Endive is delicious served raw in salads and combines well with blue cheese, walnuts and dressings made with orange or lemon juice. You can also sautee or casserole endive: wilt with garlic in a little olive oil and braise for 10 minutes until tender. Season and add lemon juice to taste.
